How it all began

Sodapop was born from a moment of curiosity shared by three friends; Nicolai, Øyvind, and Øystein over dinner at a small Indian restaurant in Oslo. Between the rice, the naan and a great chicken madras, we found ourselves puzzling over the question: "why do portable speakers all sound so small?"

That night, inspiration struck. What if better sound didn’t require more electronics - just smarter acoustics?

Back in our makeshift workshop (the kitchen!), we began experimenting with resonance and discovered that when a small speaker was attached to an ordinary soda bottle, the sound was transformed. The bottle became a natural acoustic chamber, adding depth, warmth, and bass that far exceeded the speaker’s size.

This was the insight that defined Sodapop - a patented, screw on design that allows the speaker to connect to any standard bottle, instantly expanding its sound. In the finished product, we designed the speaker unit to fit into a clear plastic bottle that acts as both the bass chamber and a protective carrying case, delivering consistent sound wherever you go.

We set out to create a portable speaker that not only looked great and embodied the fun and joy of shared music but also delivered an incredible sound quality to back it up, so we've been delighted that the Sodapop speaker has been so well reviewed by press and customers alike. It never fails to attract happy gasps of surprise when people hear the amazing sound coming from something so small, colourful and lightweight.

Real innovation doesn’t always start in a lab - it can start with three friends, a decent curry and a spark of imagination!

We aim to protect the environment.

We use plastic free packaging and make sustainable choices in our product design and logistics wherever practical and economically viable
